CODE
OF BEHAVIOR FOR SPECTATORS
- Spectators
are an important part of the game and should at all times conform to
accepted standards of good sportsmanship and behavior.
- Spectators
should at all times respect officials, visiting coaches, players,
and cheerleaders as guests in the community and extend all
courtesies to them.
- Enthusiastic
and wholesome cheering for one’s own team is encouraged.
- Booing,
whistling, stamping of feet, and disrespectful remarks should be
avoided.
- Horns,
noisemakers, and bells are prohibited.
Players and coaches need to be able to hear each other and
the officials, and should be able to concentrate on the play of the
game.
- Pep
bands, under the supervision of school personnel may play when play
is completely stopped. Pep
bands MUST coordinate their playing with both school cheerleaders so
that they are not performing simultaneously.
- The
throwing of debris, confetti, or any object in the stands or onto
the playing area will not be tolerated.
If an individual or group or group of individuals is
identified he/she may be asked to leave.
- During
the free throw in basketball, and the serve in volleyball, court
courtesies should be upheld.
- Spectators
should encourage each other to observe this Code of Ethics.
Those who do not respond should be reported to the proper
school authorities immediately.
- Spectators
should obey the rules and regulations of the school concerning
smoking, food, and soft drink consumption, littering, use of
lavatory facilities, and parking of cars.
- Spectators
should respect all school officials and supervisors at all athletic
contests.
