COACHING MANUAL

COACHING RULES IN A NUTSHELL

 1^st YEAR:        All coaches need up-to-date CPR/AED and First Aid.

                         (CPR/AED needs updating every year for coaches.)

                         (First Aid updated every 3 years.)

2^nd YEAR:        School Violence course completed prior to school year. (as of 7/1/01)

                         Child Abuse course completed prior to school year.

                        Coach should be enrolled in or have completed Philosophy & Principles course.

3^rd YEAR:        Completed Philosophy & Principles course.

                         Enrolled in Theory and Techniques course.

By the end of the 4^th Year, coaches should have completed all 3 coaching classes.

                       1.      Philosophy & Principals

                       2.      Theories and Techniques

3.      Health Science

As of 3/01, the State issued changes in the status of teacher vs non-teacher coaches.  At the beginning of the 

3^rd year of the non-teachers’ coaching, the District can apply for a professional license.  The coach also 

needs to have a formal observation by the AD.  Stipulation – coach has up-to-date credentials (see above).

I understand the requirements to be appointed to a paid coaching position and until these are satisfied,

I am considered an unpaid volunteer.
