Dear Community Members,
Since starting school nearly five decades ago, I have eagerly anticipated the first day of each new school year. As a student, the new school year presented me with the excitement of wonder as I thought about my new classes, which friends would be in the same lunch period, and whether I'd be able to actually open my locker. Now as your school superintendent, I am experiencing the same level of excitement as we hopefully enter into a more normal, post-pandemic world.
For nearly a year and a half, our worlds have been turned upside down. While much has been lost, I personally have gained a much greater appreciation for the little thing sin life that are so easy to take for granted. From seeing a smile on another person's face to sharing a meal with friends, the pandemic has reminded me of what is truly important.
While eagerly planning a return to greater normalcy in our school life, it is true that the transition will not be easy for all. For nearly all, there will be a period of adjustment. Never before has the partnership between home and school bee so important.
The Canton Central School District has a long history of excellence. As we prepare for the new school year, we will refocus our energies to ensure that this pursuit of excellence is always at the forefront of our daily endeavors.
