Capital Project Update

The capital project continues to make good progress.  The high school locker room and athletic offices demolition is nearly complete.  This area will house the new pool.  During the week of April 10, construction of the footers for the new foundation will start.

The former Agriculture classroom and woodshop demolition is nearing completion.  This area will become the new locker rooms and athletic offices.  During the week of April 10, the concrete floor in this area will be removed to allow for plumbing lines to be installed.

The former soccer field has been stripped of the topsoil. Gravel and crushed stone are being put in place along with drainage tile for the new parking lot.

The area for the new multi-purpose, artificial turf athletic field is being cleared of topsoil.
CAPITAL PROJECT REFERENDUM VOTE IS FEBRUARY 14TH

In May 2021, residents of the Canton Central School District approved a $27.5 million capital project to improve existing buildings and classroom spaces as well as athletic facilities. On Tuesday, February 14, voters will decide on an addition of $10.5 million to the project budget.

The project will address key health, safety and security measures in the district. The additional funds, which account for inflation and supply chain challenges faced since the original vote, will bring the project total to $38 million.

What is the tax impact on district residents?

District residents that are not enrolled in the STAR program, will see an increase of $72.44 annually per $100,000.
